Subject: Am I being a "worry wart"?
From: JB
Help... Our 5 1/2 year old daughter has a speech delay, we have taken her to speech therapy, with very little improvement. Our pediatrician feels she will out grow this and everything will be fine. She is our only child and she has started school and it hurts me that she cannot verbally pronounce words as well as the other children. We read to her, have had her hearing checked and everything was fine. Are we being ridiculous? It worries me horribly:( Is there something else we can attempt? Thank you, JB
The fact that she is in school now will help stimulate her to talk better. However you don't want to just leave it alone, because the other kids may tease her and cause other problems. I would continue with speech therapy. It sometimes is a slow process. Perhaps a different Speech Pathologist would be a better match for your daughter.
